To everything there is a season.

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
(Ecclesiastes 3:1)
To everything there is a season. Some seasons come and go with little difficulty and others are full of struggle. There is no question that life will be full of ups and downs. In time we will learn true contentment in all seasons, regardless of the circumstances that surround us. But not before we have tried in every way to manipulate or control the circumstances to the point of exhaustion. Sometimes we only give up when we have run out of ideas and repeated the same mistakes over and over finally realizing that we could not improve our circumstances but instead made them worse. I think I have just about experienced this in every area of my life! Can you recall those times of falling on your face and yelling out I surrender, those times where you got so fed up with yourself and the situation that you just threw your hands up! Did you notice that after the break down, the kicking and screaming and crying hysterically that when you stopped and talked to God a sense of peace came! That’s probably because we finally surrendered and we admitted that we couldn’t do it and finally looked to God for the answer. I admit that I am not walking this thing out perfectly, who can, but when I remember to do only what I can do and let God do what He can and is more able to do, I get to have that sense of peace that only comes from Him and my surrendering.

Do you have Christian Community?

As believers we are instructed in God's word to come together for fellowship with Christ and one another. One way to accomplish this is through Christian community. “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” 1 John 1:7. “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching…” Hebrews 10:24. Christian community should not be about being in a social clique and it should extend beyond attending church. What it should be about is a body of believers coming together as one in Christ to share, love and care for one another. We should come together as the body of Christ to pray and worship with one another. We also should come together to help meet the needs of others. If we study the meaning of Jesu...

7 Things to Help You Through A Difficult Season

We’ve all had days or long seasons when life has become so full of challenges that it seems nothing is going as we’d hoped! I’ve had long seasons where the plans I’ve made or what I’ve set out to accomplish was somehow diverted by some unforeseen circumstance. Everything I attempted to resolve matters and regain momentum failed. Well I’ve just come out of one of those long. Seasons. The good news is it didn’t last. The bad news is it was painful. There are scars and residue that ensure the pain and lessons will not be forgotten.  In the grand scheme of things, a hectic day doesn’t impact life or eternity all that much, but when a day becomes days that evolve into an extended season of financial strain, a lack of provision, various other challenges, it leads to feelings of frustration, uncertainty, and can seem overwhelming.  Here are 7 things that have helped me through those unforeseen, difficult seasons in life. My sincerest prayer is that these reminders will h...

Can I encourage you today to stop judging yourself?

Do you struggle with self-acceptance? So many of us tend to compare ourselves to others and then we pass judgment on ourselves and determine that we come up short. Why is it that we don't seem to appreciate who God created us to be? Why can't we simply be happy with who we are? Do you experience this feeling of low self-worth? I know I sometimes do. God created us differently for a reason. Each being is unique in his or her own way; we're uniquely crafted individuals purposely formed by God for God. When we are critical and judge one another, we are judging God’s work and when we judge ourselves, we are actually saying to God that we don’t like what He made. Sometimes we have to dig deep to find self-acceptance because when we don't accept ourselves as God made us, we not only reject His workmanship, but we open up a huge opportunity for our discontent to grow and expand into other areas of our lives. “ We are God’s workmanship” (Ephesians 2:10). Are you constantly ...
