Staying in my lane...

I just read T.D. Jakes’ post on facebook where he says:

“We must learn to accept the calling God has given us. We must also learn to be comfortable with who we are and appreciate our uniqueness. God will not reward us for completing another man’s task. He only rewards us for completing the task that He has appointed us to do. Get a clear understanding of what God has called you to do. Stay in your lane and find value in your part in God’s ultimate plan.”

What T.D. Jakes said just confirmed that I need to stay in my lane and focus on what God has put on my heart to do. I admit I have wandered from time to time and lost my focus. I have found there is a peace that comes when I am doing what I know God has called me to do. I’ve also found that when I am trying to decide which way to go or struggling in choosing between two alternatives, one of the options will give me a greater peace, so most likely the option that brings me peace is probably God's will.

“The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever” (Isaiah 32:17).

I am doing my best to be patient and not try to rush God's timing or go my own way. I"m getting better at trusting Him in faith that He will lead me and accomplish His will in my life.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6).

God has given each of us gifts and abilities to use in His service. Find peace and comfort in knowing that He always equips us to do what he calls us to do. Also, keep in mind that if you aren't gifted in a certain area, don’t try to force it because that may not be the area that God has called you to serve and minister. (Romans 12:6-8, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 and Ephesians 4:11-13 gives us a list of spiritual gifts and a discussion of them.)

God's ultimate purpose for all of us is that He would be glorified (1 Corinthians 10:31) and that the gospel and God's kingdom would be advanced (Genesis 50:20 and Philippians 1:12).

How does  T.D Jakes' post speak to you?

Comments

  1. Your post speaks to me and I thank you for sharing some of T.D. Jakes' words. If you read my post from last night, you'll see that I was thinking about that very thing. I pray that God will help me, and you, further develop the gifts and abilities He wants us to use in his service. Have a wonderful day.

God is preparing each of us to be the vessel He wants to use in the life of another person...

I read this today and it fits with what I believe God is speaking to me… "Do not stay in the stronghold. Go into the land of Judah"... - 1 Samuel 22:5 When life beats down on us and we get to the place where we want to hide in a cave, God often places people around us who prod us into moving in the right direction. He does not want us to remain in the place of discouragement. He wants us to move into the land of "praise." Judah means "praise." "You must keep moving! There are too many who are depending on you in the Kingdom." I didn't totally understand what he meant at the time. Now I know he was saying that God is preparing each of us to be the vessel He wants to use in the life of another person, but we will never be that vessel if we give up and hide in our cave of discouragement. Not only must we keep moving, we must move into a new realm. Our attitude must move from discouragement to praise. It is when we move past discouragement

Can I encourage you today to stop judging yourself?

Do you struggle with self-acceptance? So many of us tend to compare ourselves to others and then we pass judgment on ourselves and determine that we come up short. Why is it that we don't seem to appreciate who God created us to be? Why can't we simply be happy with who we are? Do you experience this feeling of low self-worth? I know I sometimes do. God created us differently for a reason. Each being is unique in his or her own way; we're uniquely crafted individuals purposely formed by God for God. When we are critical and judge one another, we are judging God’s work and when we judge ourselves, we are actually saying to God that we don’t like what He made. Sometimes we have to dig deep to find self-acceptance because when we don't accept ourselves as God made us, we not only reject His workmanship, but we open up a huge opportunity for our discontent to grow and expand into other areas of our lives. “ We are God’s workmanship” (Ephesians 2:10). Are you constantly

Do you have Christian Community?

As believers we are instructed in God's word to come together for fellowship with Christ and one another. One way to accomplish this is through Christian community. “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” 1 John 1:7. “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching…” Hebrews 10:24. Christian community should not be about being in a social clique and it should extend beyond attending church. What it should be about is a body of believers coming together as one in Christ to share, love and care for one another. We should come together as the body of Christ to pray and worship with one another. We also should come together to help meet the needs of others. If we study the meaning of Jesu
